Please contact us at least 2 weeks before the scheduled date of your tour. Otherwise, it is not possible to make necessary arrangement for your tour. If you plan a trip to Japan in high seasons (December-January, late March-early April, late April-early May), please contact us at least ONE MONTH before, or preferably TWO MONTHS before the tour date. The number of cars and drivers is very limited.
Please note that during year-end and new-year holiday period (28 Dec - 5 Jan), high season price are to be applied. Typically, 10,000-15,000 yen per a car will be added to ordinary prices. Please also note that availability of cars and guides is alredy limited during this period.
On the days of Shirakawago light-up events, only registered cars are allowed to have access to the area on the days of events. So
You can make a day trip from Tokyo to Shirakawago and Takayama, though we recommend to take 2 days. To go to Shirakawago from Tokyo, there are 3 ways.
- Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya, and a car from Nagoya.
- Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya, express train from Nagoya to Takayama, and a car from Takayama.
- Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kanazawa, and a car from Kanazawa.
We find the 3rd option, trip via Kanazawa is the most convenient and reasonable. Although a regular bus service is available between Tokyo and Takayama, you should avoid it if you do not have enough time. We do not arrange tours by bus.
Make your own trip from Tokyo to Nagoya or Kanazawa, you need a ticket of Shinkansen from Tokyo Station. If you have Japan Rail Pass, you can use it. If you like, we include the price of the Shinkansen tickets in the price of your tour and send your tickets to your hotel with additional service and delivery charge.
We recommend you to take one of these trains departing from Tokyo Station so that you can make a day trip from Tokyo to Shirakawago.
